Stem Cell Harvest

First of all, Angela wanted me to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has helping and is helping our family during this time.  She feels loved and supported and wanted everyone to know that we could not do it without your help.  You are our angels lifting us up and carrying us through this difficult time.

The stem cell collection has been an interesting and frustrating experience thus far.  The goal for my stem cell harvest is 2 million.   They collected 1 million the first day time, but only 0.2 million the second time.  Today will probably be even lower.  They told me that because of the chemo that I have had, I am considered a "poor donor".  I am not outputting what they would have expected.

We have had a run-a-round with a special shot that I should have been given but because of insurance concerns, they didn't have me get it for two nights.  Come to find out, our insurance did approve it but the message did not get to the people it needed to.  I should get the special shot tonight then hopefully the collection tomorrow will go much better.

The doctor here is going to talk with the doctor in NYC that recommended the stem cell collection and see if they really need the 2 million.  So we will see.

The technician did say that he has seen patients that do not donate well, take a break and come back.  Hopefully that will not be the case.

Thanks again for all that you wonderful people do for us.  You are God's hands working miracles in out lives.  Heavenly Father has blessed us so much.  He will bless you for your kindness and sacrifice.

  1. Who is your doctor at Huntsman? Or do you just see technicians? I had Randy Jensen when I went up there for my Brian Tumor. Great guy!
