Session 12 - Post Vienna

Starting a 5-day session of chemo therapy right after a 9-day trip to Vienna, Austria is just wrong.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of loved ones, Angela and I spent a week in Vienna, Austria.  We were able to stay with her Aunt an Uncle the entire time.  This was a huge blessing as they took us many places and made the trip more relaxing.  It was a wonderful week that we will never forget.  Christmas in Europe can be magical.

A HUGE THANK YOU to my Mom and Angela's Dad for taking care of and coordinating the care for our children while we were gone.  You are angels to our family.  Thanks to everyone who helped in any way to keep our kids safe and loved while we were gone.

Session 12:  We met with Dr. Wright on Monday.  She has been communicating with other cancer hospitals to try to come up with a plan for me.  She found a surgeon in New York that would consider doing surgery.  She was excited about this more aggressive approach because of my age and how I have reacted to the chemo thus far.  On Tuesday, we met with Dr. Poppe, a radiation doctor.  He proposed that we finish the chemo, get another scan, do radiation on a couple of 'easy' sites to see how I react, then decide whether or not to get more aggressive.  There is a tumor that is in a spot that is not going to be easy for a surgeon to get to or for the radiation to get to without major side affects.  For this reason, Dr. Poppe suggested to not get aggressive unless that caner starts to spread again.  If the cancer stays at bay for a while, then these may be the best years I have where I am not doing chemo.  We have much to pray about in deciding what to do next.

We have so much to be thankful for.  We have a beautiful family, a warm home, loving parents & siblings, and the hope of the Gospel. I know that Heavenly Father is watching over us and He will bless our family.
