The Scramble

Hello Everyone - we just got a call from the New York doctors and they would like me (Doug) to fly out on Tuesday so I can meet with the doctors on Wednesday and have the surgery on Friday.  Take a week of pills, get the experimental injection, wait around for a couple of weeks to make sure nothing bad happens, then fly home around the 31st of October.

We are in hustle mode to get housing, flights, and caregivers all in place.  Things are working out so far.  My sister is able to come out with me at the beginning, Angela will come out for a couple of weeks, and we have another family member that is seeing if he can come out for a week.  I am trying to get a hold of Delta - will probably be on hold for a while as I am trying to re-book a flight we had to cancel when the first attempt fell through.

We have been praying hard to know if this is the right thing to do.  Please continue to pray that all go according to His will.  We are so thankful for all the help we have received from everyone.  We know that we are surrounded by angels!

Decision time

We met with the doctors today - the oncologist and radiologist from huntsman and the surgeon from New York.  The New York doctor said that after reviewing the scans he thinks I am still eligible for the trial they are doing. All the doctors agreed that if I wanted to do the trial, I should do it now before any other treatment. Of I did not want to do the trial then I would do radiation.
I was excited about the trial before I had all my bowel obstructions, now I am unsure. I want to do what is best for my family, but only Heavenly Father knows that. I must make a decision and pray earnestly about it. If I do the study, I would be gone for a month. No one knows how my body and the cancer will react to the trial or the tradition.
I must have faith that Heavenly Father will continue to be merciful to me and lead me by the hand to the places I need to go while on this earth. I know that God lives and loves me, my family - all of us.  I know that of I am doing all I can to keep his commandments he will guide me in my decisions and steer me back on course if I start to stray.
Thank you for all your love, support, prayers, and thoughts.  We feel it and are so thankful for it.

Miracles abound!

I must apologize for the lateness of this post. This should have been posted immediately so we all could celebrate together.

My scans came back CLEAR!!!!!!!!!!

They do not see any signs of cancer - miracles are still occurring in our lives.

Thank you for all your prayers and fasting. We have felt the power of your faith.

I still have some preventative treatment to consider, but do not know the details yet. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we need to make those treatment decisions.

I am so thankful that Heavenly Father has allowed me more time on this earth. I pray I will do His will and not waste a moment of this gift.
