NO MORE STOMACH TUBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am pretty excited about that!!
This morning, one of the surgeons came in and looked at the stomach output and saw how low it was. He tried to hook it up to suction, but the tube wasn't cooperating. I tried it and I cracked a piece of it. (It was plastic : ) So, the surgeon said it had to come out now because it was broken. The surgeon had me take a big breath, then bow out as he pulled the tube out. Getting the tube out, was a much better experience than getting the tube in.
Now, I am on a clear liquid diet. They are going to see how this goes today and will make diet modifications as time goes on. I have to make sure that I do not overdue the eating. Too much, too soon could be disastrous. They are hopeful that I will be able to leave by the end of the week. I would love to come home on Thursday so I can go firework shopping with the family!
I can talk now and it does not hurt. I can swallow a lot better. Things are looking up. The plan is to make sure the liquid diet has no complications, then go to ice cream, yogurt, pudding type foods. Next would be the soft palatable foods. At that point I may be able to come home.
Thank you for all your prayers and fasting. I have felt the strength coming from your faith. We love you all.

Doug thank you for your faith. And thank you for sharing your experiences. My faith is strengthened and my heart made more grateful when I read your posts. I am glad that the tube is out! I hope that you can go home and be with your family for the holiday. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see you in shorts and T-shirt.... you do make the hospital gown look good, but it's really not you. ;)
