The News

If you're reading this blog, chances are that you know Doug and Angela.  You probably know that they have four beautiful children: Matthew (11), Jonathan (8), Daniel (4) and baby girl Annie, who joined the family last August.

On March 5, 2013 Doug and Angela received the devastating news that Doug has cancer.  This blog is dedicated to him and that battle that lies ahead.

Right now, they only know that Doug has a sarcoma--a super general term.  Tomorrow is Doug's first appointment with the oncologist, where they'll learn exactly what this means.  Like you, Doug and Ange have a million questions.  Some of those will be answered tomorrow.

No matter what they learn, this is a pivotal moment. We've set up this blog to share their news, both the ups and the downs of the journey that lies ahead. Tomorrow, we'll post more.

For now, please pray for Doug.

  1. stunned. still stunned.

the good news is that "the big C" is just not as devastating as it was say...10-20 years ago.

the incredible progress in cancer research, diagnosis, treatments, and recovery make it not a fatal word any longer. I personally know several friends that have had this scare, treatment and are cancer free today. alive and well even.

I do think Doug is a pretty dang great guy so I wonder if it is his time to go...I am thinking no. He has some ornery around the edges to work out still, a wife to do for, some kiddos to send off on missions, and some trips to take in life later on....no skippin out early, you have some work to do still.

I went to chemo with my friend once. It was just a needle in the arm, like a blood draw. To get ready for that, fatten up some, take some good walks with the fam round the block like before, and breathe.

    This too shall pass.

You and your family are in our prayers as you face and beat this new chapter in your long life. It is just a chapter. I checked the last page of the book....it turns out good. Our main character is a hero and he will rise to meet this challenge well.

    Much love...Linda
